Sheridan, Wyoming’s most highly awarded brewery sits in the heart of the Wild West, at the base of the majestic Big Horn Mountains. Our inspiration in determining a name for the company came from Black Tooth Mountain, standing tall at 13,014 ft. elevation. At Black Tooth Brewery we are creating noteworthy, quality craft beer and have been doing so for the last 11 years.
Black Tooth’s humble beginning started in November of 2010. Co-founder Tim Barnes and other local investors began their beer journey with a 10 BBL brewhouse and a taproom with rustic, western-industrial features, including pieces of the building’s history. After five years of winning medals and offering consistently clean, damn good beer, Black Tooth expanded its 10 BBL brewhouse in the Spring of 2015 into a monster production facility. The multi-million-dollar expansion included adding a canning line for packaging, putting Black Tooth even more on the map as our distribution accounts spanned from Wyoming and Nebraska to South Dakota and Montana. Our vision of being a leader in creating quality craft beer within the Rocky Mountain region had become, and continues to be, a reality. Not only can you find Black Tooth’s beer in numerous package liquor stores across the region, you can also find our variety of styles flowing at restaurants and local watering holes. Just look for BTB in the shape of a buffalo’s head and our brightly colored, fantastically designed labels. Our “why” is to proudly uphold Wyoming’s iconic beer brand and continue to be Wyoming’s first choice in craft beer. Our beer is brewed for Wyoming, which is represented by our newest year-round offering, the perfectly colored red, white, and blue 307 Lager.
Since the expansion in 2015, multiple brewers and helping staff have been working their magic by elevating beer quality standards, maintaining the classic recipes, and adding new, innovative ones to Black Tooth’s expansive beer profile. Not only can you enjoy our year-round, seasonal, and limited release beers on draft and in cans, but also our pilot series brews, where we offer small batch goodness several times a year
In 2020, Black Tooth expanded and opened a taproom and 10 BBL brewhouse in the Capital City (using our original gangster 10 BBL system from Sheridan). What better way to Drink the West and celebrate Cheyenne’s history, tourist attractions, and its beer-drinking residents with a beautiful new facility in a vintage building that, by destiny, looks exactly like our vintage building in Sheridan?
For the rest of 2020 and 2021, the Covid19 pandemic couldn’t stop us…..so we took advantage of a great opportunity and expanded to the Oil City! Casper, WY is our third location with a 5bbl brewing system, large custom taproom with oil-specific features, and an outdoor courtyard space equipped with a stage, pergola, and fire pits.
